About the Item

An impeccably carved Ruyi pendant in breathtaking emerald-green jade, glowing with a luminous, glassy translucency. This piece is certified by GIA under their updated nomenclature as natural untreated “Fei Cui” (omphacite jade) — A-Grade jade of the highest order. The stone measures 39.69mm x 24.37mm x 1.20mm and weighs 12.83 grams, with a smooth polish that reveals a depth and purity of green rarely seen. It is mounted in a traditional 18k gold frame with a rear opening “door,” allowing the wearer to admire the extraordinary semi-transparency whenever a shock of visceral beauty is desired. A smattering of bright, tiny diamonds acorn the bail. This pendant is perfectly unisex, balancing refined elegance with bold presence, and represents one of the most investment-worthy forms of jade jewelry available today. The Ruyi (如意), literally “as desired” or “according to your wishes,” is among the most auspicious motifs in Chinese art and culture. Originally a ceremonial scepter, its form resembles a cloud, lingzhi fungus, or lotus bud, and it is universally recognized as a symbol of: Wish fulfillment & prosperity, Longevity & authority, & Good fortune & harmony. Throughout centuries, the Ruyi has appeared in imperial regalia, jade carvings, textiles, porcelain, lacquer, and even architectural ornamentation such as balustrades and throne details. It remains a powerful motif in Chinese decorative arts, bridging the spiritual and the artistic. Fei Cui: The New GIA Nomenclature While Western gemology has historically divided jade into subtypes (jadeite, omphacite, kosmochlor), this practice often created confusion in the global market. Across Asia, however, the phrase “Fei Cui” has always been used to describe the most desirable, finest jade material — regardless of its exact mineralogical makeup. With this certificate, GIA has now aligned with the international high-end jade trade, adopting Fei Cui as the official nomenclature. This pendant therefore stands not only as a gemological treasure but also as part of a historic refinement in how jade is classified and valued. Jade of this quality — glassy emerald-green, untreated, and GIA-certified under the “Fei Cui” designation — is extraordinarily rare. The translucency rivals the finest “Imperial” material, and the symbolism of the Ruyi enhances both cultural and collectible value. A pendant of this caliber is both a jewel and an asset: a timeless talisman of prosperity and one of the most secure investments in the global gem market. Simply put, jade does not come finer than this. (Note: images on white are studio; all other images taken in 100% natural light.)
