About the Item

An Edwardian necklace designed by Vever Paris. This is an amazing necklace-pendant created in Paris France during the belle epoque period by the jewelry house of Vever, back in the 1900-1910. The fabulous piece has been masterfully crafted in .900/.999 platinum and mounted with an almond-shaped panel embellished with engine turned patterns topped with blue-gray glass enamel. The platinum mounting is set with fifty-two rose cuts diamonds and forty-two natural white pears. Fitted with a movable oval ring with a pearls station chain with a spring ring lock. Vever Paris Henri Vever directed the family jewelry business, begun in Metz by his grandfather Pierre-Paul Vever (d. 1853). After the capture of Metz in the Franco-Prussian War (1871), the family moved to Luxembourg and then Paris, where the Maison Vever became well established on the Rue de la Paix. Henri Vever (1854-1942) was a prominent French jeweler and art collector, known for his significant contributions to the Art Nouveau and art deco movement and his role in the family's jewelry business, Maison Vever. He is celebrated for his innovative use of enamel and gemstones, often inspired by Japanese art, and for his role in the revival of French jewelry design in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Diamonds: The pendant is mount in Mille-grains settings, with 52 European rose cuts diamonds, with a combined total weight of about 1.26 carats, white colorless F/G color, VS/SI clarity Pearls: Mounted in bar and wires settings, with 42 well matched round white pearls graduated between 2.8 mm and 2.9 mm. Weight: 25.95 Grams, (19.20 Dwt). Length: The station chain is 17.75 Inches, (45 Cm). Measurements: The pendant itself is 90 mm by 38 mm by 11 mm (3.5 x 1.50 x 0.43 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with French marks; the maker's mark, the French national mark for the assay and warranty of the platinum and the gold, the four-digits inventory numbers and signed as follows: "VEVER PARIS 2189". Literature: Sylvie Raulet, Art Deco Jewelry, 1985 Rizzoli, Pp 114 for similar examples illustrated. Collateral: This Vever Paris Edwardian necklace is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box. Condition: The overall condition of this Vever Paris necklace is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the platinum. The 94 gemstones are secured in the settings.
