This exceptional, fine and impressive antique locket has been crafted in 14k yellow gold.
The exceptional yellow gold locket has an oval form, embellished with impressive embossed and chased Burmese style decoration to the domed anterior and posterior covers.
The ornamentation to the anterior surface depicts the figure of Krishna* playing the flute, positioned next to a calf, and surrounded by intricate floral motifs.
The posterior face of the locket bears the figure of Saraswati** playing a Saraswati veena, with a swan in the foreground of the image and floral motifs encircling the figure.
The yellow gold border of the locket is plain and unembellished.
This hinged locket opens to reveal two windows, allowing for a personal memento to be stored within.
The pendant suspends from a 1920s 17k yellow gold 26" belcher chain via a ring loop to the upper border of the frame.
The chain secures with a conventional spring-loaded bolt ring fastening.
The exceptional antique locket is hallmarked to the lower border of each cover with the 14k gold fineness mark 585, the importer's mark (RES) and the London import mark date letter for 1979 (E).
