About the Item

Cushion Tablet Shape Engraved Ancient Carnelian Intaglio set into a contemporary Etruscan Revival ring. The ring is bright polished rich 22kt yellow gold. The ancient intaglio is bezel set. Two 2.7mm gold beads sit between the lower bezel setting and the top of the shoulders. The shank is fully rounded and very comfortable to wear. The Ancient Intaglio is bright saturated redidish orange colour This intaglio likely depicts Penelope, the faithful wife of Odysseus, seated beside her loom as she patiently awaited his return after the Trojan War. Admired by both the Greeks and Romans as a symbol of loyalty, patience, and unwavering devotion, Penelope became one of antiquity's most enduring examples of fidelity and quiet strength. The intaglio is in good condition and show several thousands of years wear.
