Antique 19th-century 10kt. pink gold men's large-sized intaglio ring with a carved amethyst, featuring the God Helios. The shoulders of the ring's shank are nicely decorated with two different face masks.
Made in Europe, Circa 1890's

One of the most well-known stories involving Helios is the tale of his son Phaeton. The earth is scorched, and to prevent further disaster, Zeus strikes Phaeton down with a lightning bolt. Helios is left grief-stricken by the loss of his son.
