About the Item

A luminous, hand-formed natural and untreated 15.5 mm x 8.6 mm Burmese jadeite jade cabochon in apple green is bezel-set within this satisfyingly weighty and solid rich yellow gold band that is unmarked but tests higher than 18-karat (though I'm listing it as 18K). When I purchased the ring I was told it was 22k and this may well be the case. The ring features extensive and sharp hand engraving and has a Balinese or perhaps Thai aesthetic. The ring is beautifully formed: it's gently curved and burnished to slide right onto the finger, making it so exceedingly comfortable to wear. Normally, I don't go for jade rings where the back of the stone is sealed and not visible but I made an exception with this stunning ring for two reasons: 1: the jade was natural and untreated and of very high quality 2: it is solid on the inside because a poem has been scratched into the gold. It's very delicate; the lettering is not easy to read, especially if, like me, you have no idea in what language the poem is written. But there it is: poetry, etched in high-karat gold. This jadeite jade ring was created as a labor of love and you can see it but you can also feel it. There's certainly no other like it. And that cabochon of apple-green jade glows like a lighthouse. It's a tall cabochon that doesn't need to be backlit to look amazing. This is a perfect wedding ring for a man who wants something more unique than a simple band. Or who just wants a jade ring. But it's also an excellent choice for a woman in search of a fine jade ring that won't catch on every clothing item she wears. This jade stone appears to have no mottling whatsoever and the color is very even. It's a superlative stone and I don't throw that word around every day. Currently a size 10, it could be resized by your local jeweler. The ring ships with a certificate from Stone Group Labs (SGL) stating the Burmese jadeite is natural with no treatments.

The jade cabochon measures 14.5mm x 9.19mm Seafoam green was pointedly on-trend in the 1950s when this ring was hand-fabricated. The pearls surrounding the jade are at least partially drilled —possibly they are drilled all the way through; I can't tell because of how they are set in the mounting.
