About the Item

Attractive and elegant Marsh Art Deco steel, gold and diamond clamper style wrist watch. Patinaed steel with applied pave diamond cloud form motifs and shoulder hilts. 14k white gold back engraved in the signature March fashion. Small size, Interior width measures 2" but hinges expand to accomodate larger size to 7.5" wrist. Width at face 1". Unsigned by Marsh, San Francisco, Works made by Nivia, Switzerland. Marsh 1930's USA. Marsh & Co. was a San Francisco based jewelry company known for their distinctive use of steel that's been treated with gun bluing and sandblasted which gave the metal its matte finish. Most notable was their combination of oxidized steel with traditional Asian materials such as pearl, coral and jadeite jade. During the 1930s, while specializing in Asian antiques and art, the firm started producing their own unique stylized jewelry.
