Description: A striking original French architectural study by Bernard Labbe, depicting a tall building facade with a red tiled roof, projecting balcony, shutters and sharply angled walls. The work is executed in watercolour and ink, with the artist combining careful architectural line drawing with expressive colour washes in blue, terracotta, ochre and soft grey. The subject has strong appeal for collectors of French architectural paintings, balcony scenes, town house facades, red roof buildings, urban studies and original mid century works on paper. The composition is unusually vertical and highly graphic, focusing on the dramatic geometry of the building rather than a wider street view.
