A charming study of Thomas Gainsborough's three-quarter length portrait of Welsh actress Sarah Siddons. Sarah Simmons was born a family of theatre professionals in Brecon, Wale. After marrying actor William Siddons at the age of 18 she travelled the country with a small troupe of actors. Her performance in in Bath's Theatre Royal was wear she finally started to gain adoration from the public, with her Lady Macbeth being widely recognised as an outstanding performance.Dated and signed with a monogram. Presented in a gilt frame with a rope running pattern. On paper.
