Charcoal on paper, Signed (centre) 40cm × 29cm (57cm × 46cm framed) Victor Prouvé was a French painter, sculptor, and decorative artist known for his work in the Art Nouveau style and his leadership of the École de Nancy. Born in 1858, he was a versatile artist who created designs for furniture, glassware, and jewelry, and also worked as a printmaker, engraver, and portraitist. After the death of Émile Gallé in 1904, Prouvé became the president of the École de Nancy and later served as the director of the École des Beaux-Arts in Nancy from 1919 to 1940.
