New York City Anthem: In 2016 I visited New York and took the opportunity to not only experience how it felt to be there, but to write down every sensation that I was having. I live in a rural part of Dorset so the city’s effect on me was exaggerated - sounds, smells and sights that were all being experienced at once. It was dazzling. When I returned home, I started work on making a piece that I felt would contain everything about New York City that enthralled me. It had to be big and it had to be from the viewpoint of being inside the city itself. "The play of water and light has fascinated me for years. From childhood I have found sunlight underwater mesmerising - be it a Cornish rock pool or The Red Sea, the movement and diffraction of light excites me.
