Minor mat tone and several small losses in the left sheet edge, and one small loss at the top left sheet edge, all well outside of image area. Marchande de Lacets is an artwork realized by Louis Malteste in 1897. Lithograph on paper. Signed and dated on plate on the lower right corner. Mint conditions. Passepartout included (cm 50 x 34). Very interesting and elegant artwork representing the portrait of an old woman sitting on a chair with some baskets on the floor. The basket is full of balls of wool and strands. The stroke is very contrasting and the face of the woman is realized with a chiaroscuro that define the volumes. Louis Malteste (Chartre, 1862 – Paris, 1928) was a French illustrator. He lived and worked in Paris, where he exhibited in 1897 at the Salon des Cents and, in 1902 at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts. He worked for humorous publications and famous magazines such as L'Assiette au beurre et Le Chat Noir.
