About the Item

This architectural wall-mounted cement head sculpture introduces a spatial configuration distinct from other works in the Proyectos subseries. In Project 22, the sculpted head is anchored to the wall through a vertical and horizontal chestnut wood structure, transforming the piece into an architectural wall object rather than a freestanding or suspended form. The work operates as a hybrid between portrait, relief and support system, emphasizing the idea of the human head as a constructed dwelling integrated directly into architectural space. Cast in high-hardness cement from a silicone mold, the sculpture retains the natural features of cement work: pores, chromatic variations, light abrasions and subtle irregularities that speak to the material’s construction origins. Each section is hand-tinted with water-based pigments and finished with a semi-matte varnish, highlighting shifts between volumes and transitions across the surface. The chestnut wood, treated with lasur, forms a stabilizing exoskeleton that not only supports the piece but frames the head as if embedded within a structural grid. Fine aggregates ensure crisp modeling, while acrylic fibers and a water-reducing agent reinforce overall durability and resistance to micro-cracking. Designed to be mounted using two discreet wall anchors, Project 22 lends itself to a wide range of interior contexts—especially those interested in integrating sculptural objects directly into the architectural envelope. Its combination of material clarity, spatial engagement and figurative presence aligns strongly with key 1stDibs categories including Wall Sculptures, Small Sculptures and Figural Works, making it a compelling option for the Holiday Gift Guide. Cement Head with Chestnut Wood Framework, Architectural Figurative Sculpture

Cement Head with Chestnut Wood Framework, Architectural Figurative Sculpture

By Jose Perozo

Located in FISTERRA, ES

This architectural figurative sculpture combines a hand-tinted grey cement human head with a precisely constructed framework of natural chestnut wood. Created by Spanish sculptor José Perozo in 2025, the unique work is titled Proxecto XVII and belongs to his Proxectos series. Perozo approaches the human body as a constructed space: a physical dwelling assembled from layers, openings and structural fragments. Here, the head is not treated simply as a portrait but as an architectural volume whose anatomy appears to continue through wood. A curved chestnut structure rises from the crown and extends down one side of the face. Its beams resemble the exposed framework of a roof, a building section or the internal skeleton of an unfinished shelter. The central vertical element suggests a ridge beam, while the curved opening beneath it creates a visual passage between the solidity of the cement head...
