Artist Biography
Josep Puigdengolas Barella (Barcelona, 1906-1987) was one of the most respected Spanish landscape painters of the twentieth century. Trained in Florence and later appointed professor at the Escola Superior de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi in Barcelona, he developed a distinguished career centered on Mediterranean and mountain landscapes.
Art historian Marqués de Lozoya considered him among the most distinguished representatives of Spanish landscape painting. His work is represented in important public collections, including the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid and major institutional collections throughout Spain.
