Mitzy Renooy made this painting in the winter at the end of 2018.
In February that year people were skating in Giethoorn, 'Dutch Venice', a village with streets, canals, from water. Very populair in summer to visit the village with small boats, bu also very populair in winter, when there is ice for 'ice-skating'. The suggestion of the movement of the boys, skating is made spectacular.
This painting makes an impression due to the simplicity of the brushstrokes and the narrative that is told by artist Mitzy Renooy. Mitzy Renooy finds her inspiration, people in their environment, movement and the ryhthm of life, Cuba, traveling. Her latest serie is about ice-skating, also available at Galerie Bonnard. The loose painting style of Renooy developed during the last two years of her study at Academy of Classical Arts in Groningen under the guidance of her mentor Sam Drukker. From a rigidly working potrait painter Mitzy has become an artist with whom a fluid brush stroke, rhythm and dynamism tell a story.
She graduated in Juni 2017, in a very short while she became very populair. Her paintings are already sold in Finland, Belgium, France, Great Britain and of course in Holland.
