The Racken Group, A Värmland Lake View, 1945

By Ture Ander

Located in Stockholm, SE

This landscape painting by Ture Ander, completed in 1945, captures the serene beauty of a Värmland lake. The composition is dominated by soft, blue hues that give a tranquil feel, suggesting a calm day by the water. The trees in the foreground, depicted with a delicate blend of pink and earthy tones, add depth and contrast to the expansive lake and distant hills. Ture Ander was born on September 17, 1880, in Askers socken, Örebro. At the age of 13, he moved to Stockholm to apprentice as a painter. While working during the day, he pursued evening courses at the Technical School, now known as Konstfack, where he graduated in 1903 with high honors in painting. In 1905, Ander was accepted into the prestigious Artist Association School, studying alongside prominent artists such as Leander Engström, Isaac Grünewald, and Einar Nerman...

This painting by Ture Ander, created in 1917, depicts a serene landscape from Värmland, Sweden. At the center of the composition is a large tree, likely a deciduous species, as suggested by the hints of autumn seen in both the tree and the meadow below it. The short brushstrokes used to depict the leaves and grass evoke a sense of movement and texture, typical of the early 20th-century artistic style. Another beautiful detail is the bluish-tinted forested mountains in the background, creating a sense of depth and tranquility. Ture Ander played a significant role in the Racken group (Rackstadkolonin), an important artistic collective in Sweden at the time. Ander was born on September 17 in Askers socken, Örebro. At the age of 13, he became an apprentice painter in Stockholm, attending evening classes at the Technical School (now known as Konstfack) while working during the day. He earned his journeyman’s certificate in 1902, and the following year, he graduated from the Technical School with the highest honors in painting. In 1905, he was accepted into the Konstnärsförbundets skola (School of the Artists' Association), where he studied alongside notable artists like Leander Engström, Isaac Grünewald, and Einar Nerman...

"Boulevard of Paris", 20th Century oil on canvas by Spanish artist E. Grau Sala

By Emilio Grau Sala

Located in Madrid, ES

EMILIO GRAU SALA Spanish, 1911 - 1975 BOULEVARD OF PARIS signed “Grau Sala” (lower right) oil on canvas 25-1/2 x 32 inches (65 x 81 cm.) framed: 36-1/4 x 42-1/2 inches (92 x 108 cm.) Emilio Grau Sala came from a family of artists. He was born in Barcelona in 1911 and his father, a good cartoonist, had been one of the promoters of the "Salon des Humanistes" and made his exhibitions normally in the Parés Hall. His first works were exhibited at the Salon des Independents, in the years 1930-33. Grau Sala was essentially a Mediterranean painter, son of post-impressionism and enriched with French painting of the last fifty years. In this work Grau Sala has a loose, subtle brushstroke, in which the color shapes the entire work. The bright and transparent whites that give life to young schoolgirls contrast with the brushstrokes of blacks from the nun who accompanies them. The explosion of greens is refreshing, it surrounds us and transports us to an idyllic place, even if it is a citizen boulevard, which becomes friendly and beautiful. His works can be found in the Museums of the Villa de Paris, L'Ile de France Museum, at the Château de Sceaux, Honfleur Museum, La Rochelle Museum, Barcelona Museum, Tossa de Mar...
