About the Item

This is a chunky hand-carved wooden floor screen or room divider, produced by Pacific Northwest furniture creator Witco. The silhouette was part of their Tiki Chateau collection, designed in 1959 by William Westenhaver. The panels are made of stained, large-grained cedar that has been chainsaw-carved and blowtorch-scorched. The hinges and fittings are blackened iron, giving the piece the Spanish aesthetic that Witco is known for. The screen measures 1.5 inches deep, 55 inches wide and 72 inches high.

  • Condition:
Repaired: There is a replacement screw on one of the hinges that is in working order. It is a different color than the other hardware but isn't glaringly distracting. There are also some chips on the bottom legs, and some patina on the hinges. See photos. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. There are some chips here and there, especially around the feet. The piece is rough-hewn by its very nature, and it has lots of organic discrepancies throughout the wood. Please see photos.
