About the Item

A unique glazed ceramic dish, handcrafted in Vallauris, France, circa 1960s. An highly artistic piece of mid-century ceramic work, the serving dish is shaped in the form of a vine leaf and features a small handle at its base alongside a sculpted, spherical orange-glazed tomato resting on the edge of the outer leaf. Perfectly glazed in a bold palette of deep brown and grassy green tones, the veins of the vine leaf depicted and highlighted with splashes of white and bright orange glaze—a distinctive glazing technique which was so characteristic of Vallauris pottery during the mid-century. Measuring 20 cm in length, 14 cm in width, and 6.5 cm in height, it is an ideal dish for serving nuts or bonbons or as a vide-poche for trinkets.
