About the Item

Modernist style Murano glass bowl produced in Italy during the 1970s. Executed in clear glass with a submerged opaque green centre, the bowl presents a refined and minimalist interpretation of traditional Murano glassmaking. Its circular form features a broad, shallow basin that emphasises the visual depth created by the contrasting layers of glass. The clear outer body acts as an optical lens around the green core, producing subtle shifts in colour intensity and reflection as the piece is viewed from different angles. This restrained approach reflects the evolution of Murano design during the post-war decades, when many makers explored cleaner forms and a more architectural aesthetic. Although unsigned, the bowl displays characteristics consistent with examples attributed to La Murrina and recalls the sophisticated use of colour and form found in contemporary Murano works associated with Lino Tagliapietra and Gianmaria Potenza. The bowl remains in very good vintage condition with minor exterior wear and small manufacturing-related irregularities consistent with age and production.
