About the Item

An exceptional Austrian silver and enamel cigarette case dating to the early 20th century, executed in an elegant Neo-Classical style and featuring a richly detailed depiction of Salome holding the head of Saint John the Baptist. This refined and highly collectible object embodies the sophisticated decorative arts tradition associated with Vienna and the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the turn of the century. Crafted in solid silver with fine enamel work, the case displays remarkable artistic quality and attention to detail. The interior retains its original mechanism, and the opening push button bears a “935” silver hallmark, indicating a high-grade silver alloy commonly used in distinguished Austrian decorative objects of the period.
