About the Item

A rare and exquisite Imperial Russian gold, silver and agate cigarette case was made circa 1908 by renowned Russian silversmith Vasily Kangin who worked with the imperial court supplier Morozov. The case features a cappuccino agate panel set in rose gold, a striking solid gold cabochon sapphire thumbpiece, and a radiant chased sunburst motif across the body. The interior bears the 84 kokoshnik silver mark and maker’s initials, confirming its authenticity and origin. Agate symbolises growth and vitality and encourages perseverance and grounding. An engraved Cyrillic dedication inside the lid reads: “For good memory to F. Douglas from colleagues R. Crawford, P. Willig…” with more names inscribed beneath.
