Top quality and excellent condition antique box for the collectors of rare and beautiful. Over the years we have had the pleasure of owning and selling some truly beautiful antique boxes and this handcrafted jewelry box is right up there with the best. The exotic olive wood that was used to create this box comes with the most amazing natural grains and over the many decades it has grown the most beautiful patina as well. This rare and hard woodtype makes this a relatively heavy (for its size) box and the hardness of the wood makes the detailed oak leaf and acorn patterns on top extra impressive. We believe the particular design of these handcarved patterns may also symbolize the tree of life (an important symbol in many religions). Unfortunately we are unable to translate the handpainted-in-black-ink Hebrew text just above the keyhole. What makes this majestic antique box stand out even more, is the blue and padded silk lining on the inside of the base and lid. It all shows that no expense was spared to create this fantastic antique. This one of a kind box even comes with its original key for the perfect working brass lock.
