English Decorative Objects

The "Cries of London" series, including this "Sweet Orange" plate, originated from a series of oil paintings by Francis Wheatley exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1792 and 1795. These paintings were subsequently engraved and sold as prints. Reproductions of these popular prints, like the plate that we have listed here were produced over a long period, even into the 20th century.
