About the Item

This striking Art Deco leaping gazelle sculpture, crafted in cold-painted bronzed spelter and mounted on a substantial black marble base, is a wonderfully elegant example of early 20th-century decorative sculpture. The gazelle is beautifully modelled in a dynamic leaping pose, capturing the animal's grace and movement. Its streamlined form and stylised proportions are characteristic of the Art Deco aesthetic, while the original cold-painted finish provides an attractive bronze-like appearance. Mounted on an impressive elliptical black marble base, the sculpture makes an excellent statement centrepiece for a coffee table, console, desk, library or display cabinet. Its substantial size and dramatic silhouette give it considerable visual presence, while the naturalistic modelling makes it particularly appealing to collectors of Art Deco animal sculptures and bronzed spelter figures. A distinctive decorative piece and an unusual example of the period's fascination with exotic and dynamic animal forms. The marble base has no chips or significant damage, and the cold-painted bronzed spelter gazelle is also in very good condition with no significant damage noted. Please see all photographs.
