About the Item

An extraordinarily elegant and stately mid-19th century French Gothic Revival cut glass large scent bottle, beautifully preserved with its original mounts. The slim, cylindrical body of the vessel is masterfully hand-cut with intricate geometric patterns, featuring cross-hatched diamond points and elongated cathedral-arch panels that capture and reflect light brilliantly. The lower half of the bottle is encased in a magnificent, highly detailed gilt bronze (ormolu) stand. This mount features exquisite architectural openwork replicating Gothic spires, pointed tracery arches, and trefoil motifs, resting on a substancial, stepped octagonal base decorated with crenelated borders and miniature blind arcades. The piece is crowned with its original, finely faceted flame or teardrop-shaped glass stopper. This rare combination of fine, sparkling crystal and the warm, architectural lines of the gilded bronze mount perfectly epitomizes the Romantic "Troubadour" nostalgia of the French July Monarchy and early Napoleon III eras. A striking statement piece for an executive desk, dressing table, or a fine cabinet collection.
