About the Item

A footed bowl and a very early studio glass sculpture by Monica Guggisberg and Philip Baldwin from the times when the two artists had their first own studio, which was located in Nonfoux, Switzerland. This piece is from an era, that was before the two artists discovered the way of making glass, that should become their unmistakable recognition factor until today. As the two were later combining Scandinavian and Italian techniques and adding skillful coldwork to their art glass, this piece is an earlier example that is featuring the Scandinavian approach at most. Especially the influence of Wilke Adolfsson is visible within this piece. The artists are well known within the glass community, especially because of their long collaboration with Venini. This particular item is an already historic one of from their own workshop, reminiscent of other early work that has been published in various books in the times of their break through to international success.
