About the Item

Japanese Antique Tsubo, Pottery Jar is attributed to Shigaraki ware, estimated to date from mid Edo period, early 18th century. This old Shigaraki jar conveys a rich sense of expression within its simplicity, with a natural ash glaze creating subtle gradations from pale khaki to brown, horizontal throwing marks are visible all over the surface, and feldspar particles beautifully scattered throughout the clay body. The interior is remain unglazed. The shape is slightly and naturally deformed but stands still. The size is ideal for use as a flower vase. However, I have not tested this piece for water leakage in order to preserve the outer straw covering in better condition. When using it as a vase, I recommend placing a smaller water container inside. Dimensions:
