About the Item

An elegant pair of French porcelain vases in the Sèvres taste, dating to the late 19th century. Each vase features a deep cobalt blue ground with gilt decoration and Rococo-inspired cartouches depicting romantic figural scenes. The painted reserves are framed by raised gilt scrollwork, while the bodies are mounted with ornate gilt bronze handles in the form of acanthus leaves. The vases retain their original domed lids with pinecone finials and stand on square bases with finely detailed mounts. The decoration is signed “G. Maurice”. Attribution to the painter remains preliminary, as additional documentation or factory records have not been examined. The overall design reflects the decorative refinement associated with French luxury porcelain produced in the Sèvres style during the late 19th century. Date: Circa 1880-1900 Dimensions: Height: 42 cm / 16.5 in Width (handle to handle): 12 cm / 4.7 in Condition: Very good antique condition overall. One lid presents an old visible restoration with a hairline crack and small chip, consistent with age and shown in the photographs. Minor wear to the gilt decoration and mounts consistent with age and handling. Structurally stable and suitable for display. (The photographs form an integral part of the description.)
