About the Item

A classic example of American Art Deco pottery, this Roseville Pottery Wisteria vase dates to the early 1930s and features the highly collectible Wisteria pattern in Roseville’s desirable blue matte glaze colorway. The low, rounded vessel is modeled with two applied handles and richly dimensional wisteria blossoms and trailing foliage in lavender-purple and soft green, set against a beautifully mottled blue, teal, ochre and earth-toned ground. The textured surface and softly variegated matte glaze give the piece the handcrafted character associated with vintage Roseville art pottery. Its compact scale and sculptural silhouette make this an especially versatile piece for interior designers and decorators. Ideal as a decorative accent on a console table, bookshelf, cocktail table, credenza, mantel or styled étagère, it works particularly well in Art Deco, Arts and Crafts, American Craftsman, traditional, eclectic and collected contemporary interiors. The blue and green palette also makes it an attractive addition to layered ceramic and pottery collections. The underside retains hand-applied numerical markings, including “242” and “13.” The form is commonly associated with Roseville Wisteria shape 242-4. Condition: Vintage used condition with age-appropriate wear, including scattered surface scratches, glaze wear, small chips and other imperfections as shown in the photographs. Please review all images closely as they form an important part of the condition description. Dimensions: 4.50 in. H × 6.50 in. diameter. An appealing piece of 1930s Roseville Pottery, American art pottery, vintage ceramic design, Wisteria pottery and collectible decorative ceramics, offering both historical character and strong decorative presence for professionally designed interiors.
