About the Item

A spectacular large Murano art glass centrepiece bowl, combining vibrant colour, traditional Venetian glassmaking techniques and an exceptionally eye-catching decorative design. Measuring approximately 11 inches across and 7 inches high, this substantial piece has considerable presence and would make an impressive centrepiece in any interior. The bowl is an outstanding example of the colourful Millefiori tradition, incorporating numerous vibrant glass elements and decorative “coriandoli” or confetti-like inclusions throughout the design. The combination of the rich yellow-orange ground and multicoloured details creates a wonderfully lively and sophisticated appearance. The glass has been mouth-blown and individually worked, with the characteristic variations and depth associated with handmade Murano glass. Viewed from different angles, the numerous colours and embedded decorative elements catch and reflect the light beautifully. LaMurrina / Gambaro Attribution The piece is associated with LaMurrina, and the style is consistent with mid-20th-century Murano production. It is attributed to the Gambaro tradition, although I have not located definitive documentation establishing a specific individual maker. The design and quality place it firmly within the tradition of important Murano glasshouses and master glassmakers, making it an especially attractive acquisition for collectors of Venetian art glass. The vibrant decorative approach is reminiscent of the exuberant mid-century Murano aesthetic seen across the work of celebrated names including Seguso, Venini, Barovier, Barbini and other important Murano makers. A TRUE STATEMENT CENTREPIECE This is far more than an ordinary decorative bowl. At approximately 11 inches in diameter and 7 inches high, it has the scale and visual impact required to stand alone as a substantial centrepiece. It would look equally impressive on a dining table, console, sideboard or display cabinet, and would make an exceptional addition to a serious collection of Murano Millefiori and mid-century Italian art glass. MEASUREMENTS: Height: 7 inches Rim diameter: 11 inches CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks or scratches noted. There is some minor shelf wear consistent with age and previous display. No original box included. A beautiful and highly decorative example of mid-century Murano art glass, with vibrant Millefiori and confetti-style decoration and an impressive centrepiece form. We ship tracked, worldwide.
