This sculptural brass and Lucite tray embodies the refined luxury that defined American Post-Modern design during the 1980s. Produced by Lancelle of Dallas and retaining its original ©1986 maker's label, the piece combines substantial materials with crisp architectural geometry, creating an object that functions equally as a serving tray, display plateau, or decorative centerpiece. The design is distinguished by a thick crystal-clear Lucite platform that appears to float effortlessly between two monumental satin brass supports. Each end is formed as a sweeping half-cylinder with softly radiused corners, creating a bold silhouette while emphasizing balance and symmetry. The substantial Lucite slab captures and refracts ambient light, producing a subtle luminous effect that contrasts beautifully with the warm satin finish of the brass. The combination of transparency and polished metal creates an elegant visual tension that became a hallmark of luxury interiors during the late twentieth century. Founded in Dallas during the mid-1980s, Lancelle specialized in finely crafted brass and Lucite decorative accessories that reflected the sophisticated architectural aesthetic emerging from American design centers of the period.
