About the Item

This magnificent porcelain plate signed by Minton, dated 1880, embodies the artistic refinement of the Aesthetic Movement. Finely hand-decorated, it features raised motifs of beautiful peaches hanging from a branch elegantly adorned with gold, copper, and silver-toned leaves. This meticulous work on the leaves and fruits subtly captures the light, creating a particularly expressive three-dimensional composition. The scene is enhanced by delicately painted insects, including a butterfly and a dragonfly, adding a touch of lightness and movement, symbols of the attention to detail that characterizes this artistic period. The color palette, composed of fine gold accents, deep red shades on the fruits, and subtle metallic light reflections on the leaves, gives the plate a timeless elegance. The edge of the plate is delicately highlighted with a golden trim, adding an extra touch of sophistication. On the reverse, the plate bears the iconic mark of the Minton manufactory, renowned for its production of high-end porcelain in the 19th century. The authenticity label, signed by the renowned expert Henri Sandon, attests to its provenance and historical value. This unique piece is an exquisite testament to the taste and aesthetic of the Aesthetic Movement, making it an ideal acquisition for collectors of antique porcelain or a decorative centerpiece for a refined interior. Minton was one of Majolica and porcelain's most important English manufactories, created in 1793 by Thomas Minton in Staffordshire. Minton exhibited pieces at the Great Exhibition 1851, received a gold medal in 1855 for the Exposition Universelle in Paris, and had the most prestigious clients like Queen Victoria.
