About the Item

A very fine George IV or Regency Period sterling silver coffee pot of baluster form, bearing partially rubbed London hallmarks with date letter for 1819 and makers marks for William Bateman 1st above a heraldic crest. Richly embossed overall with foliate & scrolled motifs and retaining its original carved fruitwood handle, raised upon a spreading circular foot with hand chased decoration. Overall weight, 851 grams. William Bateman 1st (1774-1850) was the grandson of Hester & John Bateman and joined the highly esteemed Bateman family firm of silversmiths in 1815.

A very fine & impressively large silver plated soup tureen by Elkington & Company of London with a capacity to hold 4 quarts. The substantial oval body having open handles, richly decorated with embossed & engraved foliate motifs & centered by blank foliate cartouches, the conforming lid bearing engraved heraldic crests. Raised overall upon a stepped oval foot, with the underside bearing impressed factory marks for Elkington & Co., together with date letter for 1884. In extremely good overall condition, and priced competitively in comparison to similar examples in the marketplace.
