About the Item

A George III sterling silver coffee pot with a wooden handle likely by Charles Wright of London. The pot features what could be described as Rococo period repousse swags and floral sprays which were often seen in art and design during the mid 18th Century. To the front of the pot is a crest and arms for the Stirling family of Ireland as detailed in the 1905 edition of Fairbairn's Book of Crests. To the underside of the pot are crisp hallmarks for London manufacture in 1770, during the reign of George III. The maker's mark of 'CW' is likely for the London maker Charles Wright, however there are several makers who had similar marks during the 18th and 19th Centuries. In lovely condition with the normal minor abrasions and signs of wear associated with a piece of silver being 250 years of age. A beautiful example of English silver from the height of the Georgian period. Marked - assay marks for London 1770 & maker's mark likely for Charles Wright Measures - 29cm H x 22cm W Total weight of piece - 871 grams

18th Century, American 'Coin Silver' Coffee Pot Attributed to Nathaniel Helme

This rather elegant coffee pot was likely made in the United States during the second half of the 18th Century. Prior to restoration work in 2022 the underside of the pot had remnants of a hallmark 'NH', allowing us to attribute the piece to early American silversmith Nathaniel Helme who was working in South Kingston, Rhode Island between 1761 and 1789. The piece stands on a square footing and has a timber handle...

We love a good piece of Art Deco silver, and this coffee pot from the 1920s is an exceptional example. The pot is marked to the underside with the Czechoslovakian 800 purity silver mark for large articles which was used between 1921 and 1929, giving us an eight year period in which it was manufactured. The elegant octagonal body of the pot is slightly tapered and features a die rolled vegetable motif border toward the top. Unfortunately we have been unable to identify the maker's mark 'JH' which is stamped alongside the Czechoslovakian silver...
