About the Item

A remarkable 19th century Italian porcelain chandelier from the renowned Capodimonte manufactory, distinguished by its sculptural richness and exceptional decorative detail. This impressive two-tier chandelier features twelve lights (eight on the lower tier and four above), arranged within an elaborate composition of scrolling porcelain arms, each finely modelled and richly adorned. The entire surface is animated by hand-painted decoration in soft, refined tones — delicate blues, greens and blush pinks — heightened with gilded accents that lend depth and luminosity to the piece. Each arm is further embellished with applied porcelain floral bouquets, while the central column is crowned by three finely modelled cherubs, gracefully holding garlands and lending a distinctly theatrical and romantic character to the composition. Rooted in the Rococo revival taste, the chandelier combines movement, asymmetry and ornamental abundance, yet remains balanced and harmonious in its proportions. The quality of the porcelain modelling, together with the richness of the decoration, places this piece within the tradition of Capodimonte’s most decorative and sought-after productions. Despite its elaborate design, the palette remains refined, allowing it to integrate beautifully into both classical interiors and more eclectic contemporary settings. A striking and highly decorative lighting piece, ideal as a focal point in: – a dining room – a bedroom – an entrance hall – a refined salon interior Condition Very good antique condition.
