About the Item

Antique Italian cut crystal and beaded glass Genoese chandelier in the Louis XV "cage" style, dating from the late 19th century. This sophisticated lighting fixture features a finely crafted gilt bronze and brass structure, elegantly adorned with a rich array of high-quality cut crystal pendants, glass beads and Murano glass stem that capture and reflect light beautifully. This grand pendant chandelier is designed with twelve (12) lights arranged on elegantly scrolling arms set at alternating heights, creating a sense of movement and architectural balance. The structure is fully dressed with strands of glass beads, faceted crystal drops and elongated prisms, culminating in a refined and luminous ensemble typical of Italian cage chandeliers. A defining feature is the central twisted glass stem, evocative of Murano glass craftsmanship. The chandelier retains its original brass round drip pan decorated with acanthus leaves patterns and candle-style bulb holders, offering versatility between exposed bulbs for a more contemporary interpretation or the addition of shades for a traditional setting.
