About the Item

A spectacular set of four French Louis XV style wall sconces, featuring exceptional gilt bronze mounts and richly coloured ruby red cut crystal glass shades. Each sconce is surmounted by a jewel-like flame-shaped glass shade, hand-cut with diamond and cross-hatched decoration, allowing the light to shimmer beautifully through the deep cranberry tones. The shades are held within finely cast gilt bronze cups, above scrolling Rococo-inspired branches adorned with acanthus leaves, floral motifs and elegant foliate details. The finely modelled ormolu-style frames display the craftsmanship and decorative exuberance associated with French 18th-century revival design, combining architectural elegance with a sense of theatrical luxury. Their elongated form and glowing red crystal make them particularly striking when installed as a group, ideal for a formal drawing room, entrance hall, dining room, or luxury hospitality interior.
