About the Item

Raro lampadario disegnato da Pietro Chiesa per Fontana Arte negli anni 40. Struttura in ottone, diffusore in vetro sabbiato a fasce e molato. Eccellenti condizioni, 3 punti luce. Nel 1933 fu creato un dipartimento specializzato in arredi moderni, che prese il nome di Fontana Arte, la cui direzione, in un primo tempo affidata a Ponti, subito dopo, su suggerimento dello stesso, passò a Pietro Chiesa, che seppe guidarla ai vertici mondiali del settore, fino alla sua prematura scomparsa nel 1948. Furono creati gli articoli più svariati: mobili, piatti, scatole, portaritratti, cornici, specchi, sculture, vetrate, spesso su disegno degli artisti più famosi. Ma fu soprattutto negli apparecchi d'illuminazione che Fontana Arte si dimostrò straordinariamente all'avanguardia, con modelli d'un razionalismo purissimo, eseguiti magistralmente sfruttando al meglio tutte le lavorazioni del cristallo che più le erano congeniali.
