About the Item

Mid-Century French wall sconce in the style of Maison Arlus, composed of a cylindrical translucent plexi shade, a curved black metal backplate, and a slender brass spike element extending downward with a second brass arm arcing upward. The contrast between the matte black plate, warm brass, and white plexi shade gives the piece a sculptural, asymmetric quality characteristic of French atelier lighting of the period. Hardwire installation; please inquire if a plug conversion is needed. Maison Arlus was a celebrated Parisian lighting house active from the late 1940s through the 1960s, producing sculptural fixtures that combined brass hardware with plexi and glass shades. Sconces of this construction, pairing geometric shade forms with expressive brass detailing, were a hallmark of French interior lighting during this period. Shows wear consistent with age and use.
