About the Item

An early 20th century Turkish terracotta olive oil jar, hand-thrown and traditionally fired, now converted into a table lamp. The form is defined by its rounded body, narrowing neck and slightly flared rim, giving it a compact, well-balanced silhouette with a clear sense of proportion. The surface carries a natural terracotta patina with soft tonal variation, alongside faint markings and a lightly etched line across the shoulder. Areas of wear have developed through age and use, adding depth without distracting from the form. Originally used for storing olive oil or water, the vessel was shaped for stability and everyday handling, with proportions that reflect its functional past. Now reworked as a lamp, it sits comfortably within Mediterranean, rustic and English country interiors, as well as more minimal spaces where shape and material are the focus. Fitted with antique bronze hardware, which will develop a natural patina over time. Supplied with a 2m antique gold cable and UK plug (EU/US available on request). A one-of-a-kind Turkish terracotta lamp, defined by its balanced proportions and softly etched shoulder detail.
