About the Item

Small vintage urn ceramic table lamp, circa 1950–1970, with a new bespoke hand-pleated lampshade in a William Morris Arts and Crafts Acanthus leaf-pattern fabric in complimentary blue tones. Newly wired for US use. International plug customization available at no charge. Height includes lampshade. The ceramic base belongs to the Porcelina series by Flora Gouda — a line developed in postwar Netherlands for interiors that favored clean classical silhouettes over the bold painted surfaces the factory had become known for. This form rises from a fluted pedestal to a gently amphora-shaped profile; the pale cornflower blue matte glaze is dense and powdery, softening and diffusing light rather than reflecting it. The relief detailing at the base and neck gives the piece its structure. The lamp was converted without alteration to the original ceramic. The shade is new and made to order, hand-pleated in a densely interlaced acanthus leaf-pattern fabric in the Arts and Crafts tradition. Its palette answers the cornflower blue of the base directly; the pleated construction echoes the fluted ribbing of the vase. A soft blue silk cord completes the lamp. About Flora Gouda: Founded in 1945 in Gouda by F. Eikenboom — who had previously worked at both PZH and Royal Goedewaagen — Plateelbakkerij Flora produced decorative earthenwares with expressive glazes that balanced Dutch tradition with mid-century restraint. The Porcelina series, with its muted finishes and architectural silhouettes, reflected the factory's response to shifting postwar interior tastes. Production was eventually absorbed by Royal Goedewaagen, and the Flora production line closed definitively in 1999. About Amitābha Studio: Amitābha Studio is a design atelier dedicated to transforming historic European ceramics into one-of-a-kind lighting objects. Each lamp is crafted with deep reverence for the original form, using non-invasive methods that preserve the integrity of every antique or vintage vase. We pair these bases with bespoke lampshades — often made from luxurious textiles such as vintage sari silks or fine European fabrics — and finish each piece with carefully selected cords, fittings, and handmade brass elements. Our work is guided by a commitment to sustainability, cultural heritage, and timeless design.

Chinoiserie Table Lamp by Velsen, Delft White Ceramic, New Lampshade

By Amitābha Studio, Delft

Located in Sitges, Barcelona

This blue and white Chinoiserie ceramic table lamp features a vintage Dutch Delftware style vase with sculptural ribbing paired with a custom Chinoiserie lampshade, blending mid-century design with traditional Dutch ceramic heritage. The authentic Velsen pottery vase has been transformed into functional lighting that celebrates both Dutch and Asian decorative arts. The vase base displays distinctive vertical ribbing in white glaze characteristic of mid-20th century Dutch pottery. Its classic ginger jar silhouette exemplifies the Delfts Wit style—white glazed Delftware that developed alongside the more famous blue and white tradition. When illuminated, the smooth glaze creates beautiful ambient light diffusion. The new bespoke drum lampshade by Amitābha...

Dutch Delft Faience Blue and White Chinoiserie Baluster Vase Mounted as a Lamp

Located in Kittery Point, ME

Late 17th Century Dutch Delft Faience Blue and White Chinoiserie Baluster Vase Mounted as a Lamp and newly electrified. Decorated in imitation of a Chinese Ming vase with a sage, rocks and vegetation, mounted on a wood base. The dimensions noted include the lampshade and electrical fittings. The vase as mounted in wood is approximately 10in. high and 6in. diameter. The arrival in Western Europe of the first shiploads of Chinese porcelain, lacquerware, ivory and silk in the 17th century stimulated interest in China, or Cathay, as it was then called. Europeans soon began copying the Chinese artworks and decorative objects. These decorative arts inspired by China, which enjoyed their heyday in the late 17th, 18th and early 19th centuries, are known as chinoiserie. Soon after the introduction of expensive Chinese...
