About the Item

A distinctive floor ashtray from the 1960s, characterized by an unusually light and graphic tripod design. The piece combines a shallow, glossy black glazed ceramic bowl with three slender chrome-plated metal legs. Each leg ends in a bright red spherical foot, echoed by a larger red sphere at the top of the elongated central stem. The stark contrast between black ceramic, chrome, and red gives the ashtray a playful, sculptural presence characteristic of experimental mid-century design. A particularly refined detail is the construction itself: the metal legs and central stem are elegantly screwed directly into the ceramic body, making the structural connections an integral part of the design. The underside of the ceramic piece bears a partially legible stamped mark. The piece is in excellent vintage condition. There are traces of oxidation on the metal parts and minimal signs of wear on the ceramic, consistent with its age and use.
