Ottomanorum Principum Effigies – Complete Ottoman Rulers Table, Rome c.1700 This impressive and complete multi-sheet engraving set titled “Ottomanorum Principum Effigies” presents a learned dynastic overview of the Ottoman rulers, conceived as a single monumental composition rather than as independent portraits. Engraved in Rome around 1700, the series was designed for assembly into a large rectangular genealogical table, following the architectural framework and paired medallion structure visible across the sheets. The set traces the Ottoman dynasty from its founder, Osman I, through successive sultans to the reigning rulers of the early eighteenth century. Each medallion contains a finely engraved portrait accompanied by a Latin historical summary, reflecting the European scholarly tradition of universal history and comparative imperial studies. Several medallions intentionally remain blank, an original and significant feature indicating that the table was conceived as an open-ended genealogy, allowing for future rulers to be added. Their presence confirms completeness rather than loss. The engravings are executed with refined burin work, dense concentric backgrounds, and architectural framing characteristic of Roman engraving at the turn of the eighteenth century. The composition closely relates to contemporary genealogical tables of emperors, popes, and royal houses produced for an international learned audience. The sheets are printed on high-quality Italian laid paper bearing the watermark of Pietro Meliani of Fabriano, one of the most important papermakers of the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries. Fabriano paper was widely favored by Roman engravers for its durability, clarity of impression, and prestige, and the presence of this watermark further supports the Roman origin and period of the set. When assembled as intended, the sheets form a visually powerful rectangular wall table, equally suited to a library, study, or institutional collection. Surviving complete sets of this series are scarce; most examples encountered on the market are fragmentary or broken up into individual sheets. Offered here is a full, intact set as issued, making it a strong object for collectors of Ottoman history, early modern genealogy, or large-scale historical prints with both intellectual and decorative authority. Condition report: Complete six-sheet set. Overall good, honest condition. Light age toning, scattered staining and watermarks, mainly in margins. Plates clean and well printed. No losses to engraved image areas. Blank medallions original to the design. An Exceptionally Rare 18th Century Louis XV Ormolu Mounted Meissen Porcelain Chinoiserie Elephant, Snail, and Flower Mantel Clock. The clock drum is painted with floral reserves on a yellow-ground porcelain case, surmounted by a seated monkey modeled in cream-glazed porcelain. The dial is inscribed “MILLOT / Her DU ROY,” referring to the Parisian clockmaker Millot, horloger du roi, and retains its original single-barrel movement with platform lever escapement. The interior of the case bears a stamped “B.” The entire composition is supported by a scrolling structure of polychrome porcelain flowers mounted on ormolu branches, leading to a central Meissen figure seated on a saddled elephant, positioned on an elaborately cast gilt bronze rocaille base. The composition centers around a chinoiserie theme, which was highly fashionable in mid-18th century France, particularly during the reign of Louis XV. In this example, the chinoiserie elements are expressed through the seated porcelain figure in Chinese dress, riding atop a caparisoned elephant with a vibrantly painted red and gold saddle and bright yellow cushion. The elephant, modeled with expressive naturalism, features finely detailed ears, trunk, and legs in Meissen’s distinctive hand-painted porcelain, with further ornamentation in applied gilding. Surrounding the central figure and timepiece is an elaborate framework of metal branches issuing dozens of individually modeled porcelain blossoms. These include peonies, roses, and tulips in various stages of bloom, each petal uniquely hand-shaped and painted in hues of lilac, ivory, pink, and violet, with naturalistic green leaves extending outward on slender bronze stems. The gilt bronze mount is executed in the Rococo taste, with asymmetrical shell forms, Snails, C-scrolls, and foliate scrollwork typical of French bronze work from the Louis XV period. The ormolu is mercury-gilded, a process common in the 18th century which involved the application of an amalgam of gold and mercury to the surface of the bronze, followed by firing to vaporize the mercury. This technique created a matte yet luminous surface, prized for its depth and lasting quality. A magnificent, fine and impressive set of three antique Georgian English sterling silver sugar and tea caddies - boxed; an addition to our silver teaware collection These magnificent, fine and impressive antique Georgian silver sugar and tea caddies each have an oblong shaped form. The surface of each antiquecaddy is embellished with impressive embossed and chased scroll and foliate decoration incorporating a stylised animalistic mask to the upper portion. The decoration to either side incorporates a scene depicting a woman arranging flowers, and the posterior surface bears a structure, all in the chinoiserie style. The anterior surfaces these antique tea caddies incorporate scroll and leaf bordered cartouches, each displaying a contemporary engraved coat of arms. The opposing scrolling lower portion of each caddy composes a shaped rim and foot. These caddies are fitted with the original hinged cast silver covers, ornamented with further foliate and floral decoration and surmounted with impressive floral finials. These Georgian silver tea caddies and sugar canister are fitted to the fine and impressive, original hinged wood and skin covered presentation casket, bearing the original velvet lined interior. The presentation box is fitted with the original silver escutcheon and carrying handle, in addition to four bracket style feet emanating from the corners. These magnificent silver boxes are the finest of their type you could hope to acquire. Condition These antique 18th century tea/sugar caddies are a magnificent gauge of silver, magnificent quality and in magnificent condition. The cast, embossed and chased decoration is very sharp and the engraved ornamentation is very crisp; the definition of these details indicates these caddies have seen little or no use. The original casket is distressed in keeping with age, however, remains in working condition. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the caddies are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the magnificent gauge of silver. A very fine and rare burr walnut and walnut double domed cupboard; Holland, circa 1700. Resting on bracket feet, the base has two large drawers a pair of half - width drawers, protruding on the bottom and inlaid with cross banded geometric ornament. The doors have elegant protruding curly serpentine - shaped walnut ornament and are topped with finely carved low - relief walnut lambrequins in the Régence style under the double domed cornice. Each dome has an elegant molding transforming in its centre into a richly carved bracket. Together with the flat - topped corners and centre, these were meant to support a Chinese porcelain or Delft glazed earthenware set of 5 blue - and -white vases, called a ' kaststel ' in Dutch. The interior is typically executed in oak, with three interior drawers and shelves behind the cupboard doors. As was often the case, the bronze handles and keyholes were replaced later in the 18th century by more contemporary Louis XVI models. The interior drawers however, where it was not felt important as they were invisible when the doors were closed, still keep their original handles. The double dome is a rare feature in Dutch walnut cabinets...

A fine Chinese Export porcelain punch bowl, Yongzheng–early Qianlong period, circa 1735–1740, painted in the famille rose palette with a distinctive version of the "Hundred Antiques" theme, unusual for its focus on furniture and precious objects rather than figures. Around the exterior are ranged a canopied couch and red-lacquer scholar's stands set with vases, flowering branches, and jardinières of peonies, together with tables bearing brush pots, censers, and boxes — a catalogue of the furnishings and treasures of the cultivated Chinese interior, giving the bowl an almost interior-portrait quality. The interior is centered with a beribboned vase of flowers within a cell-diaper and floral-panel border. The famille rose palette — named for the opaque rose-pink enamel derived from colloidal gold, introduced in the 1720s — transformed export porcelain in the second quarter of the 18th century. Bowls of the 1730s such as this, painted at the transition from the Yongzheng to the Qianlong reign, are among the most delicately enamelled of all export wares.
