The eye-catching diamond trellis and purple hues woven into this vintage Moroccan rug work together creating a truly unique look. The abrashed purple field features an all-over lozenge lattice decorated with s-hooks, diamonds, chevron lines, cubes, and ambiguous tribal motifs. Historical richness and full of Ancient Berber symbolism, this vintage Beni M'Guild rug features traditional symbols of protection and femininity in the central area while the borders along the vertical sides traditionally represent the male's presence. In Moroccan rugs, male motifs often appear on the outer portions of the composition, framing and enclosing the female motifs. This presentation can be seen as symbolizing fertility, as well as protection and the sanctuary of the family.
