About the Item

Exceptional pair of handcrafted brutalist chairs from France, dating back to the 1950s. These sculptural chairs are entirely made out of solid wood and feature a deeply hand-carved surface with expressive organic textures throughout the seat and legs. Their primitive yet highly architectural appearance gives them a strong artistic presence, somewhere between functional furniture and collectible sculpture. The angular seat shape combined with the thick carved backrest creates a very distinctive silhouette. Beautiful dark patina and visible traces of hand tools add warmth and authenticity to the pieces. Perfect as accent chairs, decorative objects, or within wabi-sabi, rustic, brutalist, or minimalist interiors. Good vintage condition with age-related wear and patina consistent with time and use. Small signs of use and imperfections enhance their character. Dimensions per chair: Height: 62 cm Width: 60 cm Depth: 36 cm Seat height: 35 cm
