This is a primitive chair of the Naga people. Quiet in its stance yet commanding in presence, it is a remarkably compelling piece that combines the strength of a sculptural work with the simplicity of folk furniture. It is believed to date from the early 20th century. Over many decades, the wood has taken on a deeply smoked tone, transforming into a rich dark brown surface that seems to embody time itself. A rare collector's set of six iconic Singer factory sprung chairs, stools designed in the US and made in the UK, 1920s. The set of six chairs, stools are made of cast iron bases with sprung backs, the seats are in height adjustable, sturdy solid wood seats, all legs are marked with Singer, manufactured by 'Simanco' and stamped in the sprung backs with the model number '94500', not all original leg caps are included. - Height: 78 cm - Seat height: 42 cm - 60 cm.
