About the Item

Set of six Model 495 stacking chairs by Herman Seeck for Asko, produced in Finland in the 1950s. Frames are birch or beechwood with a pale natural finish. Each chair features a gently contoured molded backrest and an upholstered seat pad covered in deep forest green skai, secured at the corners with visible tacking. The angular sled-style rear legs allow the chairs to stack compactly, as the image clearly demonstrates. Seeck's Model 495 reflects the broader priorities of postwar Finnish design: functional efficiency, restrained form, and honest use of material.
