About the Item

Scandinavian wingback lounge chairs from the 1940s, retaining their original olive-green velvet throughout. The channel-back rises in five vertical channels, each seam finished with a twisted cord welt — a detail that points to the quality of the original upholstery work. The arms roll forward in a full, sculptural curve, upholstered to the edge and trimmed with a continuous run of dark nailheads that continues across the base skirt. The seat cushion is fitted and boxed, trimmed to match. The velvet reads as a warm, slightly muted olive — the kind of color that works almost as a neutral in the right interior. Raised on tapered oak legs darkened with age, the chairs sit in the transitional moment between Scandinavian Art Deco and early Modernism — substantial, well-resolved, and original throughout.
