About the Item

Description: A striking tall-back armchair inspired by the iconic designs of Scottish architect and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The chair features an exceptionally tall slatted back terminating in a distinctive oval or “moon” cutout crest, creating a dramatic architectural silhouette. Finished in black, the frame is complemented by a rich red upholstered seat that provides a bold contrast and emphasizes the chair’s graphic modern form. Additional details include slender arm supports, geometric stretchers, and a carefully proportioned frame reflecting the strong linear influence of Mackintosh and the Glasgow School. Dating to approximately the 1990s, this chair is a later interpretation of Mackintosh’s celebrated turn-of-the-century designs. It is unmarked as to manufacturer and is not represented as an original Charles Rennie Mackintosh piece. An excellent statement chair for a Mid-Century Modern, Arts & Crafts, Art Nouveau, or contemporary interior.
