About the Item

A four-door sideboard in solid elm, made in France in the 1960s and found in the Maritime Alps. The doors carry a raised square pattern that catches side light, and the elm keeps a natural finish so the grain and the colour of the wood stay visible. The proportions are long and low, which suits a wall that needs filling without closing the room in. Four doors mean four separate compartments, so it divides well between plates, glasses, table linen and the things that have nowhere else to go. It reads as Alpine rather than Parisian, closer to the workshop furniture of Guillerme et Chambron than to polished city pieces, and it sits comfortably in a kitchen, a dining room or a long entrance hall. Condition is good. The carcass is sound, the doors close properly and the wear is consistent with age and use. In stock and ready to ship from our workshop.
